Anyone experience a kick on the hindquarters (basically on her bum) quite high up on the muscle and there is a slight raised swelling, some heat and started off she was walking a bit toe heel on back foot. She walked it off but still not stepping down or under as much as she should. Danalon for few days and got better but still not 100%. Swelling still there after few days and still heat on it. Calling vet tomorrow but wondered if anyone has experienced this? No heat or swelling anyway else - legs and foot all normal. Wondered if it could be bruised!

I have had one kicked there and it made him very sore for two weeks, he was fine with a bit of bute and antibiotics as it was split open. Worth getting a vet check , I always do just in case. I had one that was NWB from a kick on the back leg muscle, she was trotting sound in two weeks.

I was kicked by my stallion right on the shin (through my country boots) and i had a lump for about a month. I wasn't lame, but i did feel it for a good few days lol

Mine was kicked in the same place, could work out the hoof shape after a few days! I covered it in arnica which took out the heat and the swelling and she was fine.

Yes , one of the livery horses got kicked by a new mare and he had a swealling on his bum by the top of the tail. It went down after a few days, not open wound though

Thanks everyone. Vet out today and it was what I thought - she's been kicked and has a tear in the muscle and some fluid around it hence she's still a bit sore and lame. Because it's muscle vet says will take a few weeks to properly heal or may be sooner. Just turn out as usual and wait. Horses!!!!
