Horse kicked me!!!

Agree with everyone else just wanted to say always be aware of how you act and react around horses. You can forget yourself in anger and your horse will pick up on your tone and your body language. I suspect you went towards them quite aggressively without thinking about how they would react to it and they taught you a lesson for it. I'm glad you aren't seriously hurt and at least you will now always remember how to be around them especially youngsters.

It is all too easy to forget that youngsters can be a bit 'flighty'. I called out to my granddaughter while I was stood next to my youngster. If it had been any of the others they wouldn't have batted an eyelid. Unfortunately I spooked youngster who spun and double barrelled me. Lesson learnt, and I am now much more aware of how I behave around her. I don't anticipate it happening again, it was my fault, and as she matures she will become calmer. Hopefully!

Glad you aren't too badly hurt, and I really wouldn't worry too much :)

Twice in the 11 years I've owned my tb she has booted out at me in high jinks. First time I has to lauch myself in a hedge and second time I ducked to the side so she missed my head. She's a lovely horse generally but when in a wound up state like she was on both occasions and I'm behind her then I know she's likely to do this. She's just being a horse. Never in those 11 years has she shown aggression or kicked at me in any other circumstances.

Don't any of you ever do silly things with your horses? It is just that 9 times out of 10 we get away with it.
I shout at mine too if they are annoying me - it may not help but it makes me feel better!

Of course I did a stupid thing a couple of days ago my boy was at the stable door and instead of moving him I just went to duck under his head as I put my hand on his shoulder to let him know I was coming he moved into it jamming my arm between him and the wall with my hand on his shoulder and my elbow against the wall. He moved off when he felt the pressure but of course he weighs a damn sight more than me so he almost broke far too many bones in my arm elbow and shoulder. I was lucky but I should have known better I was just trying to duck out quickly to get on with things.

Yep...and people that say they don't are either lying or spend half their time polishing the pedestal they stand on. The point is, the OP asked for some light to be shed and what to do in a situation like that.

I think most people have been quite helpful.

Someone does a silly thing with their horse and asks for reassurance - to then be called a troll? Good old HHO.
I know I've made plenty of errors of judgements and nope, I'm not a troll.
I wouldn't worry OP. I think a glass of wine tonight may do the trick in smoothing the situation out :)
