Hi all ,
As per title ..
My stable is laid to shavings and rubber matting and has a section at the front that’s got no shavings where her front feet usually stand when at stable door or at hay bar .
However when she moves around her stable she can sometimes catch the corner of the mat and lift it and then shavings gets underneath and she can then trip or rip the mat .
I’m on a diy livery yard so I don’t have the option to stick the mats down . I was thinking about bedding the stable all the way to the door (or within a few inches ) so there’s no corners for her to lift up ? Any other suggestions ?
Thank you !

Get a bag or two of wood or straw pellets, soak them and then leave them in that spot in front of the mat (and ideally just over it) they will set like concrete to the floor as they are compacted down and will help to keep the mat down, I do this with mine in the winter and it works well, it’s soaks up any wet too and if it gets too dirty I just take it out and replace it.

Put a few screws into the mats/floor, they can be removed so not permanent like gluing would be. I have done this in one of my stables where the mat started to curl up.

I'd be very worried about that, I see potential issues of screws coming adrift if the mats are kicked around or tear, or obviously the tips of the screws can rust off in the floor leaving the shaft/head to come out.

My boxes are 90% rubber matted but the other way round to yours. I started at the door and worked towards the back of the box so the gap is at the far end, nowhere near where they pee and if you look into the box it appears to be fully matted wall to wall back and front. I never have to lift them to clean underneath as they are butted up tightly and they never ruck or slip.
