Horse Killings

I am horrified to learn, yet again, of more horse murders in Britain. A pony here in Wales was blinded recently and today's news tells of two deaths. What is the world coming to? Are these people 'practising' to kill so that it's 'easier' to start on humans?
How can we protect our horses against monsters like this? <font color="pink"> </font>
