Hi all would like you're opinions please my tb came in from the field just over a week ago hopping lame on his front left leg no obvious injury , my farrier came out to check for an abscess no sign .. but horse was not happy bending his knee but fine flexing it out there's very slight heat & some soft swelling over his knee but you really have to feel for it . Vet came out & thinks hes bruised it ? Hes been on box rest for the week with one bute a day ? Today he went out on a very small paddock & has again come in very lame ? he didn't walk far to the field & lameness was much improved but now back to square one ? Do you think to much to soon or should vet re visit ? He is weight bearing on it . Thanks

Most vets are great and will give you advice over the phone without charge in situations like this. If he were mine I would leave him in this morning and ring the vet for their opinion first thing. Hope it resolves quickly :)

I would have the vet out again for him to xray to ascertain whether there is any arthritic changes in the knee or any other problem with the knee joint itself. I know 99% of lameness comes from the hoof but strange about the lack of bending of the knee and swelling/heat present.
