Hi there, I have got a 16.2hh 13 turning 14yo tb gelding and he has competitively jumped 1.30 however was better suited to jumping 1.15, any point over that he land heavy over the jump, he does more of a pop than fly over it if you get what I mean? He is completely sound. There a few things I am trying but any ideas how to try and improve on this? (I’ve tried coming at more speed and a few other things, they have had an improvement but still looking to make it better)

Thanks

I suspect you already have your answer! Whoever jumped him competitively, and decided that he was better suited to smaller fences, moved him on because he starts to struggle when the fences get bigger than 1.15. If he's not jumping freely over bigger fences, I'd take that as him saying that they are a bit much, and he'd be happier taking a step down to a height that he's happy with
