horse leasing

Not sure. There was someone on horse quest selling/leasing £1000 a year for the lease or £3000 to buy don't think it included showing though (could try looking through other leasing ads to get an idea). Not really much help :)
 
tbh horses don't seem to be selling at the moment, and people are struggling to find loaners, so unless the horse is pretty exceptional, I can't think there would be many people wanting to pay a lease fee on top of standard loaning costs.
 
fair enough, and I would imagine side saddle is a pretty specific skill, that if you were wanting to compete straight away without putting any work in you might be prepared to pay a bit extra.
I hope your friend is successful with leasing her horse out.

You might be surprised how many horses and ponies actually are leased out - I know quite a few.

I thought the OP had made a mistake writing "leasing" instead of "loaning" but then I bumbled off to do a bit of digging!
just out of interest, why would you lease instead of loan? (From loaner rather than loanee point of view) is it to do with time frame? Experience of horse? something to get you up to the next level?
I can't imagine many people would pay to lease a bog standard pony!

From a loaner's point of view, I think it is a case that the animals offered for lease often tend to be more experienced, or more competitive than the average horse offered for loan. They are the sort of animals that if advertised for loan would have hundreds of people phoning up wanting them. So leasing gives the leasee access to a higher standard of animal than they might get via loaning. (That is not to say that it is not possible to get a really good horse via loaning though).

You only have to see how many people post on here saying why can't I find a loan horse/pony, but they all tend to want the same sort of thing - not too young, not too old, sensible, able to compete successfully etc. So demand for these animals far exceeds supply.

As for the bog standard pony, I know of several Pony Club ponies who are leased, but not sure you would call them bog standard. Just sensible, competitive all-rounders with no quirks or health problems.
