What would you consider a good logo for an equine body worker?

A funny cartoon style?

Like a horse lying on a massage bed....or a grinning horse's head?

or a more serious logo, like a profile of a horse?

Hmmm...I like both styles. Cartoons are fun, but simplicity seems more professional. You could incorporate hands and a horse? I sooo want to doodle a few ideas for you haha, but I'm just off out!

I would be turned off by cartoon style. My first thoughts were something involving light, like a glow, because I think of body workers as energy restoring....

I would also be a bit put off by a cartoon style for a professional business/service-think it doesn't give the right message. I like Billie's light idea. Things with simple lines and not too many colours always work well.

As a marketing bod, I have to say, please don't go with a cartoon style logo!!!
Very few brands can get away with cheesy, cartoony style logos.. And those are the ones which are aimed at children usually. Not a professional business.

Something neat and elegant would be my suggestion.. Perhaps a silhouette of a trotting horse with light behind? A good graphic designer, especially one with experience if working in equestrian brands will be able to help.

The type of front you use will also be influential... Nothing says tacky as well as a naff font :)
But now I'm being a boring marketing nerd so ill shut up!

Silhouette of a horse lit from behind so it looks like its glowing as Billie has suggested above

You guys are awesome.

I like the cartoon idea but had a feeling it may not create the best impression...

Darn phone!

I like the glowing horse idea, but how would that work for embroidery or business cards?

Thanks for the links. My internet access is limited at the moment but I'll have a good look when i get home :)

I also agree that a simplistic logo would be better than a cartoon image, maybe it's just me but I think they make it look more professional. Saying that there must be hundreds of businesses with cartoon images but it's just overall image and personal preference I think :)

I also like the glowing horse idea.

How about a silhouette horse happily trotting along...

with a blue sky background, but pale yellow around the horse, thus giving a glow.

This sort of gives the idea, but the colours are bright (you might like that) and the yellow is spread too far (as it's the sun that's glowing, not the horse ;)).

Another boring marketing bod here :D

I'd also keep it very simple - perhaps something like a horse's head / neck with a hand cutting into the outline, a bit like the apple logo with the bite out of it - I wouldn't go for a whole horse (fiddly for embroidery, useless at small scales for things like twitter and facebook profile pics) and if you keep colours to a minimum it will save you masses of pain - a couple of colours at most will be best. Also agree on choosing a good font, and stick to it for everything. I'd personally avoid that "glowing" effect - great on a screen, rubbish on a polo shirt or on headed paper.

Another marketing bod/graphic designer here - absolutely agree with this.

Plus 1^. I never design logos for my clients with 'picture' backgrounds. Always with clean lines and vector not pixel based drawings so that the client can eventually put them on a van graphic/billboard and so on as you never know where your business will end up. So start as you mean to go on to avoid having to rebrand when your initial logo doesn't correspond well to print/embroidery/signage etc. PM if you need help!

He hee... good job I red the thread before posting as that as my idea too. Head and neck with hand. The simpler the better.

My farrier went for a complicated logo of an upturned horses hoof.. the idea was good. Pity it has always looked like a toilet seat in actuality!!
