Horse looks very bloated

Hi this is my first time on here but I was after a bit of advice with my mare. For the past few months her belly seems to be a lot bigger than it used to, it’s very hard almost like she’s bloated. She doesn’t get over fed, is on a balancer and we tried her on a gut balancer which made no difference. She is exercised 5-6 times a week however she hates any part of her belly being touched. She’s awful to rug and girth. Does anyone I’ve any advice on this? Should I ring the vet about it?

How long have you had her, are you sure she isn't pregnant?

As its a change in appearance (has she always been funny about you touching her?) I'd get a veterinary opinion too.

I’ve had her for over two years now, she’s definitely not pregnant, no stallions on our yard and she’s out with our gelding

Please call a vet tomorrow and wait until they have seen her before you ride her again.
