I wonder if anyone can recommend/advise where i can go for insurance quotes for a horse lorry under 7.5 tonnes?

We are looking at buying one very soon, but want to work out costs etc.

Thanks

i use anthony d evans

never had to claim (thank god) but have been good one price and service when I have needed to change vehicle details, my address etc. My policy price includes breakdown, which when you have a horse on board is important! other companies don't always include this and if you ask them to the price seems to rocket!

Anthony D Evans (they do recovery too). Only had a new screen off them so far, so have REALLY tested them, but they were great with that.

I have been with Shearwater for years, although I have never had to claim. I pay about £175 for any driver over 25 Fully Comp.

NFU...and they also do breakdown!

and dont forget to tell them that they can be under-cut..as they are VERY accomodating!!

those who under-cut really need their small print looking at in detail..my step-daughter is in insurance...she said to be aware!

Another vote for Anthony Evans.

They were great when my clutch went and left me and the horse stranded on a hill 30miles from home. (It was a Bank Holiday too).

I wouldn't have a lorry without breakdown. Its not like you can get your mate to come and tow you home in their car :->.

Dont get ripped off elsewhere, go to Anthony Evans, breakdown cover is also fab.

I have used them for quite a few years, several times for breakdowns, once last year for bad accident, which resulted in total loss claim plus emergency recovery recovery, they paid up within 3 weeks no quibbles and the breakdown people were fab. So well tried and tested!!

NFU every time...have used their breakdown cover twice, both times they were with me within half an hour, both problems were only minor as well, one I needed new batteries but didn't know til they turned up to try and start the lorry and the other time my brake lights stopped working!

Another vote for Anthony Evans, you can get a quote on line & almost instant cover.

I used the recovery/assistance last weekend when I had warning light & buzzer sounding on my lorry. I phoned them, they were very polite & helpful. They contacted a lorry mechanic & he phoned me, we had a chat & he turned out within a hour & sorted the problem. I can't praise them enough.

This was the first time I'd ever called them & it's nice to know that it's money well spent.

Go with NFU easy to deal with and they settle up quick too. These are an insurance company not a broker!

Anthony D Evans is just a broker so you deal with the middle man! With this you tend to get you policy from cheap company's who then haggle over claims. SEIB are brokers too also not that quick on apying out on a claim.

Dealt with NFU personally and through business and they have always been swift and paid up.

Friend just had to claim for damage on horsebox, claim went in on the tuesday and 10 days later its authorised and now being repaired - major damage cost is over £7000!!!!

Wouldn't risk anywhere else at the moment
