Hi All,

my new lorry has arrived, however it does not have an isolator switch fitted to the leisure batteries. I have it hooked up to the electrics at the yard, however, hook up is not included in the livery price. YO has said that i can keep it hooked up for an extra £1 a week/£25 every 6 months.
my intentions were to get an isolator switch fitted, but now ive got this option, im not sure which would be better/easier?

Of course, a pic of my dream lorry that i spent a good 6 months plus looking for.

We had a solar panel fitted on the roof to trickle charge the leisure batteries. You have to go up a ladder once a year to clean it. It wasnt expensive.
Yes, get an isolator fitted.

Exactly this. There should be a trickle charge going through all the time when standing, otherwise your leisure batteries will get drained and need replacing. Quite expensive. Our lorry is in a building which doesn't have electric to it so we installed a solar panel on the building roof. It works very well.

I’ve never heard of an isolater for leisure batteries tbh? every lorry I’ve ever had, which is about 6, they’ve always had an isolater for the vehicle battery? Looking at your new lorry, which is beautiful btw, I’m stunned and amazed it doesn’t already have an isolater switch on it ?

I have both, and don't regret having both, as my caravan is parked next to it so move the lead from one to other, and glad I have idolater for security as normally leisure batteries are different so you need both

You can buy professional battery chargers that just top up the batteries when hooked up...that way you’ll never have a flat battery...
I fitted them to ours and leave the lorry plugged in...thus both the leisure batteries and the truck batteries are always fully charged...
By hooking it up you can always hide away a small radiator to come on in freezing weather which will prevent the water lines or taps freezing up...
