you wont be racing anyone but you should be ok if its serviced regulaly.. if its the old square shape they are a bit of a nail and rust bucket so get someone mecanical to give it a good checking over ....

The lorry is a 1994 model (L) reg. Has a van like appearance.
personaly I would avoid !!!... the rounded off ones that started about 2000 are much better and I would think spares availabilty would be less of a problem too..
however if its tidy and a good price it might be ok.....

Hi

You should be fine-well proven mechanicals and parts still available either new or secondhand if you need them.Just becos it's old doesn't mean it's had it!Make the usual checks that you would with anything of that age(car, truck, van, whatever),see that there has been regular maintenance, and most important, drive it and see if YOU like it-if you do,then go for it!:)

The only major problem I have had with mine was a torsion bar bush, which ment I had to cut the torsion bar and top link off the truck and get replacement parts, Ford wanted about a grand for the parts but I managed to get them second hand through the web for £220 delivered. apart from usual wear and tear it is a reliable truck if a bit rust around the cab, mine has done 260,000kms and starts and runs well.

Thank you all very much for your comments, the lorry is very tidy and well maintained, I just needed some reassurance regarding the size of the engine. Hopefully a 2.5L Turbo Diesel will be a big enough engine to carry two horses. :)

plenty of 4x4s are only 2.5 and they can tow a trailer with 2 horses
total weight about 4.5 tons, a 3 litre would be better on fuel and nicer to drive however..
if your unsure get a loaded test drive !!!!!
