Hi, my friend has currently got a horse on loan with view to buy for a weeks trial, all is going swimmingly except he makes a funny kind of burping noise. Does anyone or has anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks,

Loz

Just seems to randomly do it when ridden and when in stable, he isn't cribbing on anything so that's why I wasn't sure if it'd be classed as cribbing/windsucking.

Does it sound like cribbing, but without him getting hold of anything? If it does then be is almost definately windsucking, but never heard of one doing it while ridden. Very strange.

We have lots of customers who have horses that gurgle whilst eating and also whilst riding out - it's not common - but it does happen

Sounds like a kind of hickup burp so I suppose it could be windsucking without the holding on ... very strange indeed! He's getting a 5star so we'll ask then but thanks for your info!

We have a pony who makes an occasional 'hiccup' noise when he's being ridden and sometimes when he's being led to his field. He's always got his head up (and presumably his throat tight) when he does it, but the circumstances are usually when he's desperate to do something naughty and is holding back (or trying his best to hold back) from doing it! He also squeaks and is generally VERY vocal. Never caught him doing it when he's in.
