Hi everyone
we have a massive muck heap and we really need to get rid of it!!!
We have asked local farmers but no one seems to want to come and get it because of diesel prices these days! It is far too big to offer bags, and would take several loads with a tractor to get it out!!

One farmer said he will help us spread some on our resting fields, but that will only take a corner of the beast!!

Is there any way of getting rid of it? Ideally wed like someone to leave a container and we just fill it up, with 20 horses, we could fill one up quite quickly to say the least!!

Located East Yorkshire if thats any help!

Hmm, sounds like you'll have to get a waste carrier to take it away for you; in my experience though, farmers will take it away if you pay them, it's something like £60 a load around here.

Once you've got rid of the existing heap, invest in a muck trailer (Ebay's your friend) then you'll be able to deliver loads of muck to your local farmer (if DEFRA lets them store it).

Alternatively, put all your new muck straight into bags - a bit of a chore with 20 horses tho' - and either offer it for sale from your gateway or give it away.

The muck trailer's probably your best option tbh.

are there any allotments in a nearby town? have you tried advertising it in local shops,FREE ROTTED MANURE , come and collect. several people taking away small lots will eventually eat into it .

Slightly Foxed we are willing to pay for the loads to be taken away, as we realise diesel is so expensive, but our closest farmer is at "war" with us over some planning applications so wont talk to us. Other farmers dont seem interested and they dont seem to read the free ads!! haha.

But yes wed be willing to pay for tractor trailer loads deffinately.

advertise on your local Freecycle groups. I did that and was absolutely inundated with replies. They come and fill their own bags.

Also try a free muck add in your local parish newsletter and any free advertising magaqzines you camn get your hands on. Also try to find out if there are any allotments or horticultural societies in the area, if so drop an add for free muck to them too. Another thought is to contact your local council to see if they have any contacts with community groups or projects that might require muck.
