silly numpty question here.

when using a measuring stick, the wooden type that folds in half, with the spirit level bit to go onto the withers..... do you read the height from above or below the slide bit????

Hope that makes sense! i'm sure someone knows what i mean lol!

Its years since i've used mine and i dug it out the other day, measured one of the youngsters then started wondering as it would make about 1 to 1.5" difference if you read from the top/bottom!

hmmm... mine has quite a curve on it from where it touches the withers down to where it is on the stick.
i've been trying to find a photo online of the one i have, but so far havent found one but it is about 15 years old.

right,

found a pic of a similar wooden one - had the curved bit at the bottom....... but wasnt as curved as mine...

BUT...........

when you look at the metal ones......... the curved side is at the top... sooooo................

???????

i guess it would make more sense for the curved bit to be at the top - so that it was straight from the withers to point on the stick....

Well, you've confused me

Do what I did, next time you have your vaccs, ask the vet to bring measuring stick. They didn't charge me. Obviously, it's not official but if all you want is an idea, it should do
