horse moving towards pressure and kicking out

ive had my 8yr, ISH mare for about 4 months now. the whole time ive had her shes been moving towards pressure rather then away. when i push on her bum to get her to move over she swishes her tail and moves towards me, if i continue to push she will eventually kick out. she will not do this if i use the whip but as soon as i do it with my hands she gets upset. we also get similar reactions with the physio.

any advice would be really appreciated!!

This is a natural reaction in horses.

If a lion grabs your bum with its claws and you move away, the claws go in deeper. If you move towards the lion the claws loosen and you also have a chance of treading on it and disabling it.

Moving away has to be taught. What have you tried in the way of training? You shouldn't need to touch her to get her to move.

yes thats a really good point.
ive been placing the whip on her bum and holding it there until she moves away, basically pressure and release. she does it fine with the whip but gets upset with my hands still.

she will move away without being touched but only after weve done some groundwork prior, if i do it before any groundwork she wont.
 
Do some join up with her, and then lots of low key ground work. Get to know her, let her know when you are pleased with her. Never repeat a correct action more than three times, and always end on a positive. Hope it comes together for you both.
 
Can you get someone in to help you in person? That would be the best thing - a knowledgeable professional who can do it first, then leave you with homework once they are sure you understand.
