Lately my pony has been spookier than usual... she spooks at things on hacks that she never used to.... My first thought was maybe her eye sight's getting worse? (She's 18 so getting on a bit) But that wouldn't make sense because her jumping is still fine... doesn't spook at fillers and is jumping perfectly well as normal :)

Any thoughts as to what's made her so spooky? Thanks :)

It might be the weather there's been a few storms about - my friend's horse is really looky and jumpy lately, I had to get off her today and walk her back to the yard (she's 16.2hh I couldn't get back on!!) I took her out again after 15mins schooling and she was better but not as placid as normal - she's generally so so laid back!

weird reading this post.
i have been speaking to 2 friends whose horses are both really spooky this year. 1 an intermediate eventer who is always rock solid and recently getting more and more spooky to the point where hacking is leaping all over the place, and hardly able to get round a SJ course.
my other friend has a 6yr old who jumped anything and was completely laid back last year but this year is completely different!!!
so no idea why but its interesting that its obviously quite common.

That is strange squirrel... She is normally so sensible out hacking but spooks at the stupidest things now... she spooked at some sheep the other day- she's seem them hundreds of times before

I'd hazard a guess that due to the weather conditions of the last year maybe the growth rate or pattern of grass has changed and/or has resulted in a deficiency of magnesium of something else like that which could well have such an effect on behaviour.
