Did the judge explain why both sentences were reduced?

6months was reduced by 10% as he pleaded guilty-6 months was the maximum he could have recieved and while not long enough as far as 'we' are concerned, still therefore something of a victory. not sure about the community service thing as I am not sure if the charges were the same for each defendant.
