Is it considered bad luck to change a horses name? Why is this? I'm thinking of changig my new horses name from Daisy to something a bit more unique (there are two Daisy's at my yard already) but don't know what to change it to?!
She's iron grey and is 15hh thoroughbred X. Any suggestions??
What about a show name? She doesn't have one at the moment.
Thanks

If the horse was from the hills or rescued, the name is irrelevant, I change my horses stable name, I bought a Thorn, he's now Bruce, a Jack, now Harley, any animal responds to consistancy, call it diddlysquat often enough and it responds to it, can't help with a name for a grey

So is it best not to change their names?? I've heard of a few horses passing away about a year after the horse's name was changed. She isn't being rescued or anything so would it be best yo leave her with the same name??

I have changed many horses names, most are still alive as far as I know apart from the older ones but they lived long lives following the name change, I try and keep something similar but if the name is awful it gets changed, I like to tie it in with their show name if I can either a shortened form or part of it.

Seems like the police have no problem with name changing. Anybody else see the item about how Brian the police horse recruit will have his name changed to something more "godly" before he goes out on patrol for real?
