HI

Just wondering, when you bought your horses did you change their names? Also how many people have named their horses after food/drink?

no and no.
I know Chambon has Yoghurt

My main horse isn't named after food or drink and I didn't change his name, but my other horse was renamed 'Tango' by the woman who owned her before me. I originally got her on loan with another pony who had been renamed 'Pepsi', so I think there was a bit of a theme going on there!

Megan didn't have a name when I got her, the seller referred to her as 'the cob', so I chose Megan for her.
Chloe was called Cloud, as that was the name on the stable door at the dealers yard the previous owners bought her from. My mum thought that it wasn't a great name for a big black horse, so changed it.
There's a Cocopops at our yard.

My pony didn't come with a name but she is a golden dun so I named her Galaxy Caramel after the chocolate.

My other horse isn't named after food but I did change her name. She was called B.J but I'm not riding a horse called that! So she is now called Jazzy Bean!

My ponies were named by their studs (Claylands Ajay) Is called Ajay, Ginga (named by stud) Means satelite in Dutch appartently, where he was imported from. Teddy, whos show name is meepswood Cheiftan has always been called teddy.

my pony didn't have a name so I chose it... he has a really weird stripe that sort of slides off the side of his face and I thought that if someone was to shine a torch on him at night it would look like he had a wonky nose so I called him wonka!!

pretty much everyone does a double take when they first hear it just to check what they may have heard!!

Yes, I changed it to the name of a well known Irish Stout (Murphy!). He's not Irish, but it was St Patrick's day when we first met, and I went to see Westlife that evening (one of the most exciting days of my life). And he is short and stout.

Mo kept her name as did Sas & Spice, but Legend was changed to Shadow. In the past they either did not have a name or I kept them. It used to be superstitious to change a horses name.

Well both mine answered to their names Lady and Fudge (obviously after food).
I used to loan a pony called Kia-ora, who had a foal called Tango, rode ponies at the local riding school as a kid called Toffee, Sugar, Chocolate, Hovis, Baileys, Mango, Polo, Pie, Peppermint and Truffle.
I also know people with horses called Murrey Mint, Pepper, Spice, Pepsi, Stella Artois, Coffee, Maple Syrup, Peppermint Ice, Rolo, Cream Cracker, Guiness & Ginger.

bracken came with her name and i didnt want to change it!...........named her foal Coco!!..........had 101 names prior to foalin and not one suited her only came to coco as was asked what my fav perfume was and there was no way i was callin her cool waters!! so coco it was!.......god knows what next foalie gonna be called!!

unless my horse had some revolting name i was to embarrassed to call across the field then i wouldnt change it! however if the horse new its name id feel mean to change it.

Robin, Cooper and Fergus kept their names.
Lola was Sky which didn't suit her at all,
Zeus was Luke which sounds a little similar, the family decided that Luke wasn't 'manly'enough for a maybe stallion.
Isabella was called that because she is a palomino.

Absolutely nothing to do with food or drink, although my favourite ever Arab mare was called Stella after the drink. Oh, and I also had a tiny little white welshy called Guiness, I think his new owners called him Snowball though. Isn't that a drink too?
All coming back now, as a child I had a palomino called Apple Pie.
