Hi all,

I really am at the end of my tether.. i have a 16.3hh warmblood that every year around this time seems to lack in ooomph...i have previously had him blood tested and nothing was highlighted...i have tried pro plus...competition mixes...oats to no avail.. he just seems to be hard work and backwards.. i feel like im doing all the work and hes got no get up and go. He is not always like it this is the thing.. he is currently in at night and is fed on competition mix, handful of alfa and propel plus. I've been told about the possibility of using racing mixes instead of competition mix and maize? Also are there any other supplements anyone else has found to work.. i feel so frustrated i am putting all the work into him and some days he feels brilliant and other days its like trudging through mud! He did it to me at a showjumping comp last weekend.. i came out of the arena and felt like i had taken a elephant round the course! I have even kept his weight down this year in hope that would help.. but he has ebbed off again and i have the energy problem again..

Any advice would be much appreciated.. even if its other people having the same issues!

Thank you

Could it be boredom? My youngster gets very lazy, until there's a jump in front of his nose :D and my mums horse won't work properly in the school unless he has been out for a hack that week- bless the strange creatures :p

Well if you've had him blood tested then he is probably healthy enough, he might just be lacking in vitamins? Have you thought about putting him on a feed balancer?

My WB x TB who is living out for the summer became a little slow when he started living out; I thought it was because he was enjoying himself too much in the field and not resting enough... I started feeding him 1/3 scoop of Saracen bio-life 2000 every day and he is much better now, he looks fantastic as well. Or maybe he just needs a little holiday, does he feel better after a day off?

I give im extra salt in the summer as he does sweatout being a big black lump...i have posted some recent pictures of him in my album so you can see his stamp.. thank you again!
