Can anyone help? I need to find a new home for my 17yr old chestnut TBx mare within next couple of months. She has had a couple of ligament and tendon injuries (Feb) and although she is quite happy running around the field, my vet said I will be lucky to hack out in walk next year. She will not do any fast work or jumping again as her foreleg is completely weakened.
I would love for her to retire to a nice home as a field companion or something like that.
Does anyone need one or have any ideas?

I don't think the ILPH would be interetsed in finding a home for a privately owned horse. They are a charity and need to spend their funds rescuing horses in need - you can set up a trust fund so that they'd look after your horse if you died but they don't have a rehoming service.

At one time the ILPH used to take in "gift" horses from private homes, but they stopped a few years ago as they had so many rescue cases. As far as I am aware this is still the case. Please be careful finding a retirement/companion home, you hear so many horror stories of these going wrong.
