Horse nodding head

Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice. My 10 year old show cob nodds his head (not constantly) when trotting. He is definately not lame. Im wondering if its with me asking him to lower his head when schooling. He doesnt do it at any other pace. Hasnt affecting my placings etc but i just dont think looks good! Also would like any advice on getting him to go softer in his neck, he is a very forward going cob so needs quite a strong bit which probably doesnt help, thanks

Teeth been checked recently - annoying question but after soundness I check teeth for any head bobbing questions.

Not recently but will certainly get them checked out, thought he might have done it at all paces if teeth though.

To help horse soften he needs to be worked from behind into the bridle. I suggest lots of transitions from walk to trot and back and also changes within the pace so he doesn't anticipate. Don't forget the half halt. If he is very forward going (and a cob!) he probably gets his weight onto his forehand so half halts will help bring him back onto his hocks and as he takes the weight behind he should lighten in front. Nope definately not lame just won two championships! As i say he doesnt do it all the time just every so often when I ask him to work in an outline-more bobbing than nodding-if you know what I mean!
