Horse not for sale anymore, iv had enough off people. Sorry need a rant.

Iv had a mare for sale very very cheap as she windsucks and has a slight noise when in fast work. She's a stunning looking big chestnu tb mare not ex racer and iv done everything with her and good in the heaviest traffic. Not strong in any way. Anyway I knew she would be differcult to sell due to this so priced her at 500 to start with, than 400 and for the last 2 weeks have been up at 350. Which I feel takes into account her problems and the fact she's a tb and so on. But ideal horse for teenager to have fun on and so easy to ride and handle. But iv had nothing but timewasters and people not turning up time and time again. The few people that have really liked her and all hacked out, schooled, jumped, cantered through fields so had good trials have all tried knocking me down, I keep thinking all I'm asking ia 350 which is to find her a good home more than anything. It's really got me down and she is now staying . I just can't believe nobody would pay the small price I honestly thought she would be snapped up. Yes I know there are plenty off horses without problems but for somebody who's on a tight budget who wanted a horse to do everything on I thought they would overlook a few probs. Iv had her 4 years and done me well.

Maybe its the low price that is putting people off? If people are coming to try her, they could be thinking what else is wrong for her to be that cheap.
 
I agree £350 is too cheap. If people are trying to knock you down from that, there is something wrong with them. Plus, You're then getting into meat money territory which is always worrying. If she is good to ride and handle and not ancient she is at least worth a little more than meat money. You could try loaning her, or if you do decide to readvertise, do so at a slightly higher price.
 
Agree. That is a shockingly low price for a horse, when you think what pedigree puppies seller for. People would probably wonder what else was wrong with her.

But I do agree with Benson - the price is so low that people think there is something terribly wrong? Perhaps you need to give yourselves a break. She sounds a lovely sort of horse, and plenty have their faults, many will have more than yours does and they will be asking much more money!
If she hacks, schools and jumps well, set your stall a bit higher! I don't know how old she is but good reliable hacks are invaluable. Be positive and really sell your horse. Good luck!!
 
She's only 9 yrs old, been on loan for a year where the girl done fun rides, jumping etc on her but now getting married so gave her up. Iv tried for more before but everybody is worried about her breathing and wouldn't touch her for £1200 which I thought at the time was fair for a chestnut tb mare. She wouldn't pass a vetting cause off the wind which caused problems. The only other thing she has is a capped hock which was there when I bought her. Maybe I should try a higher price which might only bring in sersious buyers? But wind problem seems to be the problem for people
 
Wow thats way to cheap. I wouldnt sell her cheap,,you dont know where she will end up.At that price you will attract the dealers. Add a 0 on the price.
 
Can't you loan her back out then on a perm loan or something?

I'm currently looking for something for myself but would be worried by a price tag like hers! But probably less worried by windsucking at a higher price.
 
If you persist I'm sure you will find a genuine buyer. I bought a 14 year old cob with COPD and whilst this has been something that i have to work around i wouldn't swap him for the world. Yes you get the odd vets bill and pay a bit more for supplements and haylage but for the joy you get it is worth the effort. Someone out there will appreciate her for what she is. I think offering a months trial makes buyers feel more comfortable as they will get time to see that what you have said is true. This was the agreement I had with my horse but within a week there was no way he was going anywhere....
 
£1500 is nothing! Stick it out and you'll find the right person. Are you advertising her on websites ie horsemart h& h etc? Get some good photos and keep her working well. I always said I would never touch a cribber, windsucker etc and ended up buying one without knowing it! I was upset to discover his little vice but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't affect him (or me or anyone else) at all. So don't be feeling guilty! Build on her good points - she sounds as thought she as plenty! - and find her the right home
