Horse not fully dropping when weeing?

Anyone experienced a gelding not fully extended his penis when weeing - as in, the head is coming out of the sheath but that’s it? Otherwise weeing normally, not straining, can’t see anything abnormal about the sheath/penis, and horse is still fully dropping when not weeing.

Given that he's still weeing seemingly comfortably, and able to fully drop, I'm wondering whether this is a call the vet thing or a monitor for now thing.
 
Wouldn't worry me particularly, especially not as he drops it entirely occasionally. Though, checking for stones wouldn't hurt, that's good to do regularly anyway.
 
My friend’s horse was put to sleep for sheath tumours a few months ago, the only sign was that he was a bit smelly and not dropping. Because of that I’d get the vet if it were me. We didn’t suspect anything at all as he was perfectly fine in all other ways.
 
If it’s a new behaviour worth a mention to the vet & monitor for other signs.

I had one who stopped dropping when he previously had and it was pain related (he had other signs as well and a lot of concurrent things going on)

I had another who never dropped and used to pee all over his front feathers a lot. He also had back pain issues (among other things) and I do wonder if there was a link there too

Hopefully it’s nothing / just cos it’s cold and he doesn’t want to get it all out but worth keeping an eye on

Was your friend's horse able to drop otherwise? Were the tumours something the vet could have helped with, if there had been early intervention?

So I had a look through the archives (luckily, I'm the sort of creep who occasionally videos their horse weeing for no good reason. It's not going to look good for me if my camera roll ever gets out... The number of horse d*ck pics on there.) and I've got videos of him weeing normally from last year, but a couple videos of him weeing without fully dropping from a couple years back.

My first thought was that it was pain-related, given that he is arthritic behind. He is still weeing parked out (and not weeing on himself or anything), but potentially not flexing his back as much as he could whilst weeing? The older videos of him not weeing normally were from the summer, so I don't think it could be a weather thing.

Hasn't had any back pain since he stopped being ridden years ago, as far as I can tell anyway, but very possible something is going.

Yes he did drop it at random times, but slowly started dropping less and less to wee. The tumors were so far advanced that the only two options were to remove the sheath completely, or (I believe) Liverpool cream on the entire area which the vet said would be incredibly painful for him. There were only a couple of tiny lumps on it, the biggest sign apparently was that the skin was an odd texture (can’t think of the right word!)
 
if he’s gone from always dropping it to not at all, might be worth donning the gloves and having a root for beans! or paying a willy washer, i wouldn’t be in a rush to do it myself🤣🤢
