horse not keen on steamed hay .any ideas please

my 17 yr old mare normally has soaked hay as otherwise she coughs.due to freezing temperatures im steaming it as other option of haylage send her hyper.my other two are eating it happily but she is not very keen at all.should i stick with it or just give her hay soaked but freezing over.its lovley hay but always soak it.

How long have you been steaming it for? I mean how many days have you tried it? It took mine a day or 2 to get used to it but then she decided it was fine, and now gobbles it up

try sprinkling it with salt or dowsing it with treacle dissolved in boiling water! Makes it tastey

hi milliepops only since bad weather yesterday.she did eat it all last night eventually but sniffs it then picks it up drops it and looks totally unimpressed.shes normally a real pig and cant eat quickly enough,

Stick with it a bit longer, she will get the idea. If she is eating it anyway, at least she isn't going hungry. They can be fussy sods sometimes!
