Right so tb has slashed his leg open, got him back from the vets but he won't stay in the barn on his own so have to keep lami pony in with him 24/7 at the mo.....going to try chucking my girls out at night and in in the day so lami pony can get some feild time and tb gets company.
If girls don't cope with that (but I think they will if kept rugged and warm) going to borrow a stable in the other block from friend do he has 24 hour company.

But my question is keeping him busy, he had a ball with his ERS pellets in that he will get given in the day but what else, he had just recovered from ulcers so has to be ulcer friendly.

Macdonalds breakfast is on offer:)

P.s also does brewers yeast have calming affects and will help his gut?

When I have horses on box rest I feed lots of different types of forage through the day I would use chopped straw mixed with speedibeet , hay , haylage lite ( if a good doer) ordinary if not , alfalfa ( good for horses with ulcers) , Timothy hay blocks ( from halleys buy online lots of types of bloks and unmolassed chops aviable) .
There people on the yard all day here so we spilt attention through out the day they get a grooming session an equissage do passive stretches and carrots stretches ( as long as medically ok ).
I don't give licks and toys as I feel it winds them up.
You can give valerian liquid which works well as a calmer for some and various supplements to aid calmness that the vets supply can sometimes help ( expensive though and I had little sucess with them but horses vary a lot)
I give horses on box rest Protexin for the whole period it's more effective than brewers yeast which is very variable.
You might want to consider a half dose of gastroguard as a precaution the vet will advise you.

Thanks Goldenstar:)
I will have a look at the hay blocks.

He can't have haylegde as its too much protein and his face swells. Silly tb:o
