Morning all

Hope someone can help. I had my lovely gelding PTS Sunday, it wasn't planned although I knew the day was coming but not quite so soon.

This leaves my remaining 13yr old, 16h gelding on his own. He adores all other horses and I need to find him a companion, short or long term/permanent asap.

I am in Highbridge, own yard, 2.5 acres with 12x28 field shelter leading to concrete yard, tack room, hay store/spare corner stable, I have cameras and mains water. Yard is walking distance from house and I'm there twice a day. Looking for 13 to 15h companion, prefer a gelding, something middle aged ish (no youngsters or oldies). I go on holiday Saturday for a week and leaving my boy on his own breaks my heart, he can just about see a neighbours horse across lane which helps but not ideal. I have contacted welfare places close by but they don't have anything at min suitable. Companion would need to stay on own couple times a week whilst I hack my chap out. ...

Loving home, will want for nothing, any suggestions?

Thanks SEL, don't really want everyone knowing my business and strangers offering me there v broken ponies. Companion doesn't have to be an angel and won't be ridden but worry will end up with something v laminitic or with bloody strangles !!

Not sure what to do for best, my chap is calm, just bit shut down and calls occasionally but is eating. Can see another, just!! Over lane. He saw his friend after he'd been PTS so knows what's happened .
