HORSE OWNERS AROUND OXFORDSHIRE

There is a certain group of people operating in south Oxfordshire area who are known for plaiting a horses mane to return a few days later and take them. They've been here before and this morning our we found a 15h bay cob type plaited. We've moved her to a friends livery for a few days and have alerted police. We have several others that we are worried about. Please let friends know and be on your toes. They are a very mobile group of people so as much extra vigilance from the community as possible please!!!

This happened at a yard I worked at near Cirencester about 3 years ago, except they also removed the horses rugs, obviously to get a better look. It was while our boss was away and we took the decision to move them to a different field. A couple of days later someone else in the village had their horse stolen, and it turned out their horse had been plaited the same night as ours, but they hadn't really noticed/paid attention to it at the time.

If you find anything slightly odd or out of place its better to be safe thatn sorry, these guys are very sneaky and its obvious these means of identification are being used by more than one group of people.
