A little while ago there was a thread about horse passports and the demise of NED. A couple of people helpfully put together wording that could be sent to MP's to ask what was going on.
I wondered if anyone had received a reply yet?
I emailed my MP yesterday and today had the following response:

"I have just had a call from Defra to say that a reply to Mr Lilley’s letter was before the Minister but has had to be redrafted. They have promised to let me have any updates as to when we can expect a reply which I will forward to you."

Anyone heard anything different??

DEFRA rather less that gracefully withdrew the proposal after the pressure put on them by the horse owning public and the PIO's. They are currently reviewing the situation and planning to work with the PIO's for a solution!!!

whats the deal with passports at the moment i've not done any research but have recently bought a horse and don'y know whether to bothing paying to change it into my name as i heard something about a merge and some closing down.

I would sort out the passport and stay within the law. There was a meeting in London last week and feelings were running high and the letter received by the PIOs was felt to not be the end of the situation. Another meeting is planned for 31st March at the NEC, it was being organised by someone from the British Driving Society. I got the feeling at the meeting last week that those present were a formidable force representing the Breed Societies (and the passport issuing offices) of the UK.

I am intending to get it sorted but am waiting on paperwork being sent on to me. So just thought I'd ask in the meantime.
