Hi we have just purchased a pony which has a French passport how do I go about changing ownership on passport or any other help would be much appreciated

Contact BHS office. They are really helpful and will talk you through the procedure. You will need to send off your passport either to be over-stamped or more likely now, get a new British passport for your pony. You do receive the old one back. I went through this with my French mare with her passport a couple of years ago. The process was easy, just a wait for the new one to be issued. A vet will need to see your pony to do the identifying features (whorls, etc.). Even although this was recorded on my french passport the information wasn't allowed to just be transferred.

Usually, what happens is when the horse is sold there is a form available the passport society that is filled in by the old owner and the new, which is then sent off to the society (with payment) to update the passport. (From experience anyway).
Not sure about french passports though I’m afraid!
