So I have also received my NFU insurance renewal info and it has gone up by £216 for the year for 2 horses and my trailer (1 old horse so restricted insurance) - so thats now £86.32 a month (ouch)

Of that £150 a year is for personal liabiity for both horses i.e any damage they caused if they became loose. Is this something that say affiliated membership covers or BHS? I intend to affiliate the younger horse after Christmas and do not want to be paying for more than I need to.

Have also searched for other threads on the hikes in the NFU insurance so will be double checking with the other recommendatoins. I do however, have a claim going through atm and am not sure if that would have any impact if I left. BTW the increase is AFTER my reduction of £75 overall for being a good customer! Should it make any difference if I did choose to leave before my claim was setttled?

All the 3 main disciplines - BE, BD and BE include personal liability cover in their members' insurance as does the BHS for Gold Members.

If you are already a member of one of those, you are covered. If not, look at the subscription rates to work out which gives you the cheapest cover - the actual policies are likely to be very similar.

I thought that was for my personal liability - ie if anything happened to me if I hurt myself riding my horse? this is for damage my horses might do to a third party or property- is that covered or am I misunderstanding the policy?!
