Horse plaited in glastonbury area of somerset

OK, you might all be joking but I'm seriously worried now. I have just found what can only be described as a small plait (sort of mini dreadlock) in my hair, hidden away right at the back. Does that mean I have been marked to be stolen by the Eastern European/Irish muslim pagans?

It was nice knowing you. :(

However, it could also mean that YOU yourself are a filthy Irish/European/Muslim type with an aversion to hair brushes!

Hi guys, im an equine liason officer for the police.
Just to put an end to your mini argument! lol il just say that in Hampshire here we get reports of horse main plaiting all the time, with pics sent to us.
We do take any report seriously and most of the time the pic is passed around to us equine liason officers in the force to judge whether we think its natural or not.
Most of the time we come to the conclusion they are natural, my mothers old TB mare has a mane that twists like a plait if its not brushed for a while.
The whole mane plaiting thing is getting a bit blown out of preportion but as I say we do look at every case individually and the local officers are made aware incase of any suspicious activity that may be happening in the area.
Hope this helps, and it does pay to be vigilant. :)

God, I wish I hadn't started this thread now!!

Apologies to those that I have bored, personally I'm not too worried, but the owner of the horse was as her friend's horse was marked in this way and then stolen (thankfully recovered safely from a local traveller camp). It is highly unlikely that anything will happen from this, but we have a lot of travellers in the area who don't always have the best morals :o The point of the post was so that local people are aware and can do what they want with the information. My horses are my most precious possessions so I appreciate it when someone lets me know about something like this.

It is probably nothing, but I was simply passing on a message.

from your response i can only assume you have never heard of ' Meat market', please dont be so naive to think that all MM follow the same guidelines/rules.

oh, perleese..get a grip.

who on earth is going to go to all that trouble to nick a horse ..

that would then, surprise surprise NOT have a passport

you NEED a passport to have a horse slaughtered..and if its a NEW passport, a micro chip as well..

FWIW, you really are talking to the wrong person about the "meat market" lovey

Firstly, they dont want any old horse, they look at the market and see what type is at its highest value, they get one of their men to keep a look out, once one is spotted it is marked with a neat obvious plait under the mane, they then send the next man out from days to weeks later to put them in the truck and send the form place to place until they end up -mostly in wales to be shipped of to Ireland. And if you don't care or just want to big yourself up, go the hell away. And it obviously is around, becuase its happened.

It was very good of you to do so. You know now that all you need to do, is keep an eye on your own horses, and forget the rudeness you encounter on here.

Yes, we HAVE heard it all before, but I'm afraid some here can't wait to jump on the bandwaggon and have a bash.....

Don't take it to heart. :D
