I have a fab 14.3 pony who will jump anything and I really want her to go to a competitive home - not local trophy hunters who do every class at every show every weekend!! BUT
if you look on event ponies for sale some are 150 ans 151cm but competing in pony classes - is the cut off for ponies different in BE as it is in BS???

also in comp

The pony must measure no more than 148cm without shoes for BS BE,[pony trials only]WHP ponies 153cm for 15 hand classes.so a 150 pony could be doing WHP and BE classes.
Your 14.3 could probably measure 14.8 if you wanted it to,just try with a stick and let it relax, if 150 with shoes on could easily measure in.

she just under 150 without shoes and is always on edge - I dont think she knows how to relax! it amazes me how she gets through life as she is scared of the water trough too!

so she can only compete BE as a horse??

this is an ad i have seen - it obviously competes at pony trials but is 151??

Bay, Gelding, 15 years, 151 centimetres
8 BE points in one season of pony trials -- 7th Oasby pony trial, 1st Weston Park pony trial..
..Tragically for sale, after 4 years in the same home, as current rider outgrown, doing GCSEs and needs to finance move onto horses hence funds from him required for this

Will only sell if realistic price offered and needs to go to home where he can take another child right up to the top in pony trials

I havent got the rule book to hand, I think they allow a little discretion but to compete on the teams they have to measure in as they are measured at the competition,so a big ,nervy pony would be at risk of elimination,I think this has happened,so selectors are cautious.
I would think at 151 they probably wont sell so easily, it can probably compete in the trials but will never be risked on the team.
Most kids that want to event are happy to do BE 90/100 with their ponies only a few will aspire to teams .A novice course is a big ask for a pony imo.

I found the ad and its BE form, they started out trying to do JRN, but someone probably suggested it was small and may be worth more as a pony.
