hello everyone!
i am currently on the search for a 14-14.2hh pony. No younger than 6, no older than 13. Any colour. I am 14 so it needs to be suitable for me but i am a competent and confident rider currently jumping 80/90 on a smaller pony. Doesn’t need to have done PC.
Needs to be good to load, shoe, all the usual etc. Doesn’t have to be fit at the moment as i have time to build muscle. I do lots of hacking down the roads and bridleways so preferably seen a bit. Does anybody know of any of ponies close to this description? Know of anywhere i can look? I am willing to take on a pony from a rescue as long as they have been previously broken in. Thank you all!

You sound very sensible in terms of stating what you want, and what your capabilities are, which is a great start to finding a new partner.

Have a look at the following websites:

https://classified.pcuk.org/?page_id=10&category_id=4/14-hands-2ins-under

https://www.horsequest.co.uk/

https://www.horsemart.co.uk/

https://classifieds.horseandhound.co.uk/horses-for-sale/?page=2

https://equinepursuit.co.uk/listing-category-2/horses/

The last website is quite a new one, but my little mare that I just bought came via there.

I like this one on the PC website - I don't know the horse or the seller, it just looks a lovely sort, but then 14.2 bay mares are my sort!

When you find a pony that you think meets the criteria, remember to take an experienced person (your instructor for example) with you to try it, and have the pony vetted by an independent vet of your choice before buying.

Good luck - it's an exciting time for you. :)

Oh dear! Im so sorry but i forgot to add this into the original post ?‍♀️ My budget is £3000 and i’m aware it is quite tight considering the price of horses nowadays but i’m hoping to loosen it up a bit more very soon. Thank you so much to everyone who replied xxx

Prices are coming down but 3k is unlikely to get you what you want if it's sound and safe - I wonder if a loan might be a better bet for you? Perhaps a teenage pony club horse or a sane competition pony looking to step down. I'd say PC would be the place to look for a loan pony as they're not regularly advertised - they go through word of mouth. If you get a couple of references about your ability/ the home you'd offer and then approach your local pony club DC (district commissioner) they may know of a pony in the area. Good luck with your search!

Horse prices are still a bit crazy at the moment, so you may struggle for £3000, but don't give up, there are good ponies out there.

I am not sure where you are based, but Juliet Clarke near Evesham has a good reputation and often has horses that may fit your needs. This is her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/131403550756069

Also Vicki Hancox near Lower Broadheath, Worcester has a good reputation, she may be too focused on performance and larger sports horses, but its worth getting in touch with her. The mobile number on her Eastbury Manor Equestrian page is 07903437622.

There is a nice allrounder 14.2 pony (5 year old, but seems sensible) for sale by Comanche Dressage near Worcester, he is videoed here by Fern Wrighton Eventing, not sure about price

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on.
