As I am currently defrosting from being outside chopping wood this afternoon I was Just wondering does anyone use or make horse poo bricketts for their fires at home?

I’ve seen a few posts around about them and wondering is it a gimmick or do they work and are the worth the faff?
Also would if they are any good would it be inappropriate to buy a brick maker for my other half fro Christmas and say it can be his contribution to mucking out 🤣🤣

(as I am definitely not short of sh*t at home to make them from)

I did try once. It was years ago and I can’t remember really but we are not still doing it which makes me think maybe it’s not the best idea!

It's an amazing faff to get the right consistency and they take ages to dry out. The only way to really get them solid would be with a pneumatic press I think, we couldn't press them hard enough, and they are difficult to get out of the mould too. They burn pretty well but quite quickly so you are best using them as kindling. It was too much hassle for us to keep making them.

This. Plus they are difficult to dry out, you need somewhere warm with a blower if possible.

I use a newspaper briquette maker off Amazon it's under 10 pounds. This is my recipe..
Pop the poop into a large rubber trug and mix with water, stomp around it in wellies to combine then when sticky consistency pour into press and leave to dry for a week or two. Don't try this without mixing the water in as they crumble. They burn brilliantly and don't smell at all.
