Hey guys

So i am on here on behalf of one of my very good friends as i need a second and third opinion :o

So today i was at the yard and i was dropping my son off and my friend had just tacked her horse up with new saddle etc. (now she brought the saddle last friday where the people came over and fitted it correctly and she rode in it and all was good)
so anyway this is where it gets a bit weird, he kind of panicked and he was tied up on a thin bit of bailling twine and he shot forward and then back then did a couple of mini bucks then the post was loose and he slipped and ended up under the post down on the ground.
at which point he seemed to calm down once he was on the ground :( now this lasted over a minute and it was horrible to watch and i am not expressing myself very well when i tell you how bad it was.

when he got back up he was shaking and one of the girls held onto him and i took the saddle off. he was not standing right his frount legs were out frount and back legs were normal.

when we looked him over we found he had taken skin off quite a few place very stiff and i thought he looked lame on his off fore, the owner has since told me his near fore is not looking too good either :(

Now my question to you is what caused it?? Now looking back i think it started as a confusion thing, you know how when sometimes you wake up and you look around and you are not sure where you are it was a bit like that :confused: Ask me questions ill do my best to answer but as i said its not my beast. he is 16hh3ish maybe a little under TB. Not sure of his age but she has had him for a couple of years and this has not happened before.

Thank you for getting this far pimms all around :)

was the girth done up? My horse has fallen to the ground before now when someone did his girth up to tight to quickly and he collapsed, he got up once his girth was released. Otherwise i agree with above, it could have been a fit.

It sounds horrid!!
Did it look like he fitted?
Or was it like he had a shock? could he have been stung by something, a wasp maybe under the saddle?

i am not sure its only now when i look back it did not look like a sting and at first it was not a blind panic more just confusion :(:(

i might have a google and see if i can see a horse fitting and see if it was the same.

the poor owner was in shock as much as the horse bless her, i am worried about the pair of them
