Horse prefers to be on his own? Little Andy update

As we moved yards Andy is in a temporary field where he is fenced off from the others until they meet each other.

Whats really weird is he seems so happy on his own. Normally the other horses are miles away from his little field and I thought he would be stressing but he genuinely seems quite happy on his own, happier then when he was out with 6 others at old yard.

Has anyone else found this?

Also have a very cute picture of Andy with his neighbour, his neighbour likes to eat anything he can get his teeth on so when I had Andy tied outside he stuck his head out the window and started eating Andy's lead rope. Andy wasn't impressed, but was quite funny to watch

I think they are both pulling the 'we are not up to anything face'

bless them...innocent faces!! As for the being alone some horses do prefer it, my boy prefers being on his own or just out with 1 other horse (always smaller than him). He does much better condition wise when kept like this, i think it is because he can relax and not have to worry about any competition for his grass/firend!!

My horse is just teh same - he is in a herd but doesnt mind in teh slightest being alone - hes a cob so as long as he has the green stuff he is fine!
He is first out in the morning - no problem.
I even had to tell other liveries to leave him out - the3y were being kind and thought hed hate beign left out alone so if their horses were 2nd to last out they woudl bring him in.
Id to tell them - no need! He really doesnt care - tbh im so pleased, much less hassle!

Bless him, he looks quite happy and settled at your new yard.

It is not uncommon, at my yard we have a 14 year old cob mare and she has been a bit of a loner her whole life. She isn't interested in mixing with other horses, not bothered if she is completely alone in the field...or when out with other mares she is at the opposite side of the field to them! She isn't bullied, just happier to be on her own!

Shes isn't bothered by new horses, which can be a bit of a blessing at things like shows!

Whats weird is in his stable he much prefers other horeses to be around, if one walks by he has his head out very interested. This horse is so strange

We'll see how it goes though, I'm very nervous for when he goes out with the other horses as they are HUGE compared to him. Hopefully all goes well and he'll love the massive field to have a good gallop in.

At home my horse WILL NOT settle by himself at all. If I take him to a random yard (like where I worked etc) he would settle by himself. He would settle if there are other horses about, then you can take the other horses away and he just isn't bothered. Weirdo!
p.s Andy is looking a lot better since when you first got him!
