Horse prices again!!! Hee hee!

In the past 6 months there have been at least 4 new horse/ponies been bought by people already on the yard either trading up or replacing a loan pony. Now for some reason nobody seems willing to divulge how much they have paid!!!!
Is this normal behaviour or are they embaressed about how little or how much they paid?
I have never had a problem telling people how much I paid for mine, £1600 8 years ago for a BSJA Foxhunter/Newcomer 11 year old, 16.2hh, in my opinion a bargain and £800 for a 7 year old, 17.1hh ex racer, yet another bargain in my eyes.

So what's the big secret???????

Dunno, I don't mind telling people but I don't mind telling people other money type things... but I know some people don't like to divulge such info - guess it's a privacy thing??

What business is it of anybody else what they paid. My sister in law is always asking what we paid for everything we buy and it really pees me off - what does it matter?!

I could get the privacy thing if they didn't talk about the cost of other things too but they are willing to tell how much their car cost, mortgage, etc etc.

Perhaps they were happy to pay a decent amount for a decent horse but don't think it's anyone elses business. Why would they be embarressed about how they spent their money?

I have no problem with telling people what I paid for any of my horses....or anything else for that matter!

Dont see reason for embarrassment, unless they know they have been ripped off!

But everyone has their own opinions, some people prefer not to say a word about their finances!

Each to their own i guess!
