Horse prices- ever going to fall?

Ponies especially natives are a different market to horses as they are also popular with small adults.

Even 15 years ago the prices for native ponies was strong. Sadly lost my wonderful boy on Friday. I expect to pay around 7-10k when I start looking next January - if I can actually find anything suitable. I paid 3150 for my pony of a lifetime 15 years ago as a 5 yr old.

Looking at a local site, it seems that the horses are coming down a bit but people are still expecting crazy prices for ponies - whether they’re getting them is another matter. I suppose it is the season for selling ponies though.

I can't "like" that but I'm very sorry for your loss.

Yes , natives are a nightmare to buy if you don't want a youngster. I've seen a couple of 5/6 year-olds. They were both very well mannered but they were used to living inside & so fat I couldn't really tell what's under there. Most studs are only selling youngsters but at my age you think twice about buying green bananas.

This pony is my pony's grandson.

My pony was a stallion for a few years and is the sire of Portmore Thundercloud so when I am ready I will be looking for a grandson.

I am 50 this year hence not wanting a youngster as if I am lucky and it does live into late 20s I will be 80 and my health might not be so good or I might not make it to really old age.

As I will be looking at specific bloodlines I will advertise and hope someone might be tempted to sell to me an older pony by having a substantial budget and by the knowledge I keep ponies for life in a good home.
