Horse prices - I must be seriously out of touch

Bloody hell!

Hmm, I see your point, horse prices nowadays are ridiculous, but that is just excessive, plus she hasnt phrased the advert like you would for a pot comp. horse, but for an allrounder. I like him though!

Nice type of horse but not anything special enough to warrent that much money. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 4K for that! I was only asking 6500 for my 16.2 RC allrounder that has done team SJ, XC, fun rides etc and he didn't sell so me thinks the person advertising that coloured might have a long wait to find an interested buyer...

LOL I was just looking at that ad and was thinking that she could not possibly be serious! I am sure it is the same horse I looked at before I bought my TB and he was advertised around the £2K mark and needed an experienced rider to bring him on. If it is him he is lovely but I dont think he has increased in value by £7K in 18months but good luck to her if it isnt a typing error.

Rediculous- I'm tempted to call just to see what the horsehas done to warrent that price! I was offered a 16.3 last week with no comp record and had done nothing for the last 3 months and was suposedly difficult to ride for £4500. I Think people are going mad!

I like the description of "part-bred Arab" - yeah right - part bred gypsy cob more like! I suspect she's trading on the popularity of coloureds at the moment.

.. . . and £40,000 for the pony?? Must be a misprint . . . . one too many noughts methinks

The thing is I'm looking at all these and thinking if these are worth this much money, what is my horse worth?
So if I did sell him I'd put him up for a lot more that that coloured PBA as he's much nicer and done more, because if someone would pay £9500 for that what would they pay for Axel?

and so it goes on... I'm sure this is why horse prices are so much at the moment.

ah, but are any of these actually selling? You can ASK what you like, whether or not someone will actually pay it is another matter. There have been a number of posts on here (mine included a while ago) with regard to horses NOT selling at the moment.

40k for the JC seems more realistic (but still a little excessive)than the others and at least is clearly a very talented pony, the rest must be typos!? Lovely horses, but not 12k lovely I don't think!!

Wow. I think it depends on the area it's being sold in too, though it seems people wil pay anything these days. I'm trying to sell a section B pony - perfect kids pony, great LR etc. Looking at other ads for ponies of the same type the ads range from £900 - £5000!!!

[/ QUOTE ] Definitely! We found pony prices in the South East much higher than in other areas.

have you advertised on the pony club website? Its only £3.50 and I sold my pony on there within a week and had about 20 phone calls about him.
