we are very close to relocating with horses to Ireland... (Que several posts in coming weeks about the ferry!) ... what is hard to buy for horses back in ireland? Are there specific things i should stock up on here, like certain feeds or supplements/ magnesium/ linseed etc? They will be moved to just outside Dublin, so i'd expect that hopefully I would be near some decent feed stores? What about tack? In the last year friends have come from home to buy rugs at tack shops near me as they were much cheaper here so i'm just trying to plan what it would be worth buying up as work would be paying for the relocation costs so i may a well fill the lorry!

Thanks

Of the feeds I use you can't get magnesium oxide but can get cal mag. No micronized linseed here. Not sure about decent balancers as I get mine shipped over. Can't get copra or much except molassed pellets and mixes but it does vary depending where you are I believe. I'm in a very rural area so no call for stuff I want.

ps.
Good luck with the move. Oh and you can get speedibeet these days. lol

hey travelmad

welcome!! i did this just over 2.5 years ago, i moved two horses over. so very happy to chat to you re ferry/feed/stables/equipment. I am based in Dublin and horses just outside :) Look forward to being helpful

I use simple systems feed and i have to drive up a good bit to collect them as there is no irish supplier yet.

Are you keeping them in livery or at home?

If i find a suitable yard that isnt too expensive they will be on livery outside Dublin - ideally South Side... maybe Stepaside area... if i cant find a suitable yard my parents will take them, but it would be a real trek to see them then, an there would be no competing

Holloa I will definitely PM you with questions, thank you so much.

Thanks all :)
