I am thinking of having a horse psychic come to see my horse simply out of sheer curiosity.

I am a complete non-believer so really want to see what happens.

I have decided not to give out the name of my horse before she comes so she can't 'hot read' him by researching on the internet before she comes (it is amazing what you can find out about a horse with only it's name and it's age)

I am also going to remove everything, other than his bed, from his stable and not actually give any replies to what she is saying until the very end (to prevent 'cold reading')

I am really hoping she will prove me wrong and give me an insight she couldnt have gained any other way than from the horse himself. Will wait and see!

Anyone else had a psychic who has told them something that they couldnt have found out ANY other way?

What is it you're really hoping she's going to tell you? If you are a complete non-believer are you going to believe anything she says anyway? If you've got money to burn why not give the fee to charity - much better use of £££ than paying some bonkers 'psychic' to tell you made up c-p about your horse.

I'm intrigued! I'm HUGELY sceptical, but I know of perfectly sane, sensible horse people who have had experiences with equine communicators and swear they were genuine.
Look forward to hearing your experiences.

It's her money, what's wrong with her satisfying her curiosity or spending it on anything she feels like?
I think spending £100 on a set of matching bandages and saddle cloth is absurd, but hey ho.... to each their own.

I had one do a reading for me. It was a free reading for one of the horse magazines, they were sent a photo, horses name and my name.
My name can be male or female and this so called psychic person told me I was a man, which I am not! I wasn't impressed! lol

I am doing it because I am very interested in psychology (have a degree in it) and am most interested to see how the psychic works and arrives at her 'diagnosis' than actually what my horse thinks.

I am more than happy to be proved a cynic but her telling me something amazing.

All the stories people have told me I can work out how the psychic would probably arrive at their verdict. So I want to see what the lady can work out about me with very little stimulus to work with .

I will let you know how it goes :)

Out of curiousity who are you using? I've had a few readings done and each were really good. first time was woth a lafy called Catherine Walker. she asked no questions on the phone all she knew was my first name and that i wamted a reading. She told me things

I dont know who it is as another livery at the yard is organising it for several horses.

Will see if i can find out the name tonight.

I had it done, in the name of science. It was a remote reading -- I sent her a picture of my horse and her name. I tried to be sure the picture was as neutral as possible, just a horse standing in a barn aisle. I did not supply her age or breed. I also Googled my horse and nothing comes up relating to her, so you could not find out a thing about her just knowing her name.

Most of what the psychic told me was applicable to most horses but of all the general things one can surmise about most horses, it was interesting what she chose to write about. She said that my horse likes routine, likes being brought in and out and fed at the same time as other horses, and likes knowing where everybody is and keeping an eye on things. I'd say most horses prefer routine. However, it's a BIG DEAL for this horse, to the point where I cannot keep her on those DIY yards where everyone does their own thing because she paces off a squillion pounds and becomes a neurotic mess.

She knew the horse was experienced and that I had owned her for a while. Again, no way of knowing that from anything I said. For all the psychic knew, the horse (who doesn't look like an "older" horse; if you didn't know her age, you wouldn't know) could be a five-year old I bought last week.

She said that the horse sees it as her job to keep the rider aboard. I have said this about her myself, many times! I guess everyone wants to believe this about their horse, but I've really seen her go out of her way to keep the rider (myself and others) from hitting the deck.

She said that G is a very aware horse who looks out for danger, but isn't spooky. Again, I have said this about her myself. She also said that the horse is good in traffic, which she is, and that she's a horse who has definitive views and know she's right, which she is (on both counts :-)).

She said that she's a very good jumper who would prefer to get herself to the jumps and doesn't need or want you fiddling with strides, which again, describes her very well (but describes a lot of horses).

She also said several things which I would call relatively inaccurate. She said my horse would never be horrible or violent to any human or horse, which is completely true for the former and not true for the latter. Unless "horrible and violent" doesn't mean chasing horses into corners and double barreling them.

She also talked about competing at cross-country, which we've never ever done. We've played about on courses when we're at yards that have them, but I've never done it competitively in my life. She is very good at it and if I weren't a total chicken about jumping big, solid objects, we could have had a successful eventing career. So I wasn't sure about that one. The psychic said that she got the sense that we used to do more jumping and have now changed focus to dressage. Truth is, I've always been mostly focused on dressage from the day I bought this horse and while we've done more jumping in the past than we are at this moment (it's always been variable -- depends on what facilities the yard has), her primary purpose has been dressage. Again, a bit dubious.

She said the horse had fond memories of a foal. Considering she has never been bred and never spent much time around foals, I'm not really sure of this.

So my conclusion is.... I don't know. Some scarily accurate information there and some not-so-accurate. I would ideally love to send the same picture to other alleged psychics and see the results, but that gets to be a rather expensive experiment.

Edited to add: The one thing I would change in the photo would be to not make it obvious that the horse was ground tied. I ground tie as a matter of course quite a lot, so didn't think about it when I set up the photo, but I wonder if that gave the psychic any hints about the horse. LOL.

I had a lady from warks come out to my horse. She told me he had an accident in a trailer where the partition wasnt narrow enough so he bashed his hip and slipped. She also told me he has stallion like tendencies, doesnt like being last in, is insecure in his herd and had a knock to the inside of his off fore. All of it was true, down to the splint on his cannon. I cant say what the problem was with the trailer but he did have a hip problem when i first bought him.

She also said he doesnt like small white ponies. Funnily enough he kicked the crap out of one when it broke into his field a week before.

I had a friend with me at the reading whos a professional rugby player. She told him more about him than even i knew and iv known him for years! Then again, he's someone she could easily have looked up, not that she knew hed be there!

If you search for the horsey ghost story thread that ran at holloween I tell the story of my experiance with the horse physic I can't type it again I cried for an hour when I put it on there.

My sister had a Psychic party once and had a session with the clairvoyant. She was a total sceptic and still is. He threw her out of the room after two minutes for "blocking him". He should have been able to glean loads, but no one had told him it was my sister that owned the house.

I have had two experiences of psychics (for me not horse) both didn't charge because they love helping people.
The one last year was outside the pub with me smoking a cigarette when he asked if he could read my palms as he found me interesting. I agreed as I like these sort of things.
I didn't tell him anything about me and he didn't ask. He said that I had had a deeply complicated and hard upbringing, getting everything right from my dad loosing his leg to my sisters severe epilepsy. He spoke about my photography and said that he knew I wasn't happy right now (I had depression at the time) he said I was living in a house that wasn't my home with a person who was draining me (I was a live in nanny with the boss from hell). He said that he was really sorry but things were not going get better just yet and something big would happen at christmas that would be awful but change things for the better (one of my best friend died the week before xmas which led to me quitting my awful job and focusing on my business). He also told me that I have an old lady who watches over me who died a long time ago and that she wasn't a relation but she was desperate for me not to make the same mistakes as her.
I will never forget that conversation and I never got his name or saw him again.
I do believe in the good ones because of experience but there also many out there looking to make some easy cash off of gullible people.

I would love to have someone come and read Dizzy.
