I've brought my horse in from the field today only to find it's lost a shoe. No nails still in the foot. I rode her because I've done so before and it's only one shoe. However she just didn't feel right at all under saddle so I got off and lunged her only to find her lame on the still shod leg. She was really almost tripping lame on a circle in trot and really hesitant to stay in trot too. The farrier will be coming out im just curious to see if anyone has any ideas what the issue may be?

My guess would be lame from whatever got the other shoe off! Years ago I had a horse pull a shoe in muddy, sticky ground and same day pulled something in the other fore and came in lame. Maybe high jinx and she's jarred the other leg. Hopefully nothing serious :)

All sorted! Had farrier out after calling the vet and her suggesting it was likely something the farrier could diagnose and solve and if it wasn't to come back to her. Anyway she was simply quite foot sore likely from whatever has gotten her shoe off. He's trimmed her hood as they were in bad shape because of the shoe being pulled and has shod it and she is now significantly less lame because of the rest I've given her and the help the farrier has given her. Very relived!
