Horse Rider in Incident with bus

I spent most of my riding life hacking in and around Central and outer London and I hardly got any abuse what so ever so I am dissapointed to hear that some riders have so many problems.

Yes there where some inconsiderate/ignorant drivers but these where very much in the minority.

Most people where only to pleased to stroke my horse (or ask if their kids could). I am not talking about the best areas in London either but almost everyone was only to happy to have some contact with a horse.

These are sad times if some motorists do not have the patience or respect to pass a horse slowly and wide.

As one respondent said on that comments page: road tax does not pay for maintenance of the roads - council tax does. Road tax is predominantly spent on improving public transport and funding research into cleaner fuels, more efficient cars and probably the voice coach of Gordon 'The Dalek' Brown.

I didn't want to respond on the comments; they do say never argue with an idiot...I did, however, feel a strong urge to correct all that appalling grammar and spelling (and don't anyone dare play the dyslexic card here! Those mistakes were a result of laziness!).

I had to laugh at a couple of comments. One was referring to all horse-riders being called Phillippa or Pippin and another called us all 'brain-dead cretins'. I, of course, bought my two degrees on the internet and as someone working in medical research, the public should be very afraid of this 'cretin', lol!

Oh dear, it is all very sad isn't it? I feel that one of the problems people have with horsey folk is that they think we are all rich and don't work (I wish!!!) so I think it boils down to jealousy really.

It does make for scary reading, I do feel that it is more important than ever that you always thank drivers if they make any effort at all to slow down or give a wide berth. Yes, some drivers do think that slowing down to 30 is slow enough, but it is important to remember that if an effort has been made, thank them, even if it may not be slow enough.

I do think that the comment in this article highlight more than ever the way that this country is going. It is all about you and b0ll0cks to other people. Very sad indeed.
