I ride a road bike to the horse in my padded cycling shorts. It's 7.2 miles there, up and down North Yorks' finest hills.
I then ride my horse in my beautiful deep seat dressage saddle in my padded cycle shorts.
I then, after all the chores are done, ride my road bike back home in my padded cycling shorts. It's 7.2 miles back again, down and up North Yorks' finest hills.
If I didn't use the padded shorts on the bike, even with the saddle I filched from my custom build LandRover mountain bike with custom-gelled saddle to suit a lady with a larger backside, there's absolutely no way I could sit in my deep seat dressage saddle. Road bikes, despite 150 years of technological evolution, still resemble the Victorian Boneshaker in every way except perhaps, their ability to assist the ride up and down North Yorks' finest hills through the invention of gears.
I only ride the pony in padded pants because it's convenient.
But I hope I span the gap.
