So, where have you all been? What company did you use? And what did you think?

I want to go abroad, for about a week, but many of the trips on the most well advertised websites seem very expensive and don't include flights etc- though they do look amazing. I have been on a number of riding holidays before but always organised them myself- not enough time this year!

I'd love some first hand reviews and suggestions :)

I worked at a place in south africa - totally out of this world but definitely expensive - riding was 8 hours a day on very well schooled horses in 22,500 hectares of private reserve with all of the big five to spot (if you're lucky)

PM me if you'd like the name

I'll go back on holiday - just as soon as the lottery win comes in!

I went on a working holiday to Scotland, it was brilliant, want to go back! It was with Highlands Unbridled, really friendly people :)

I went to a great place in South Africa a few years back - one of the few that has the big five (may be the same as the one Polos Mum was at?). Food and horses absolutely great as well as great rides and animal sightings.

Would recommend South Africa! - I am saving to go back (slowly...)

I have been on two.... One in Spain, Andalucia which was nice, but the South Africa & Botswana safari was AMAZING.... expensive, but a holiday of a lifetime. We saw loads of wildlife, and even got to swim with our horses. It was a lot of riding, up to 8 hrs per day, so I made sure I did it before my knees got too bad!!!!

It's probably not as exotic as some of the other posts in this thread, but me and my friend are just back from an amazing horse riding holiday to Crieff Hydro Hotel.

They have new and improved Riding Centre and Livery Yard - we went for 2 nights and the hacking around the Strathearn Valley was just amazing!

They have their own website http://hydroriding.com/

All the staff were amazing - and we took advantage of the spa during our stay too :)

Highly recommend it with the weather starting to clear up!

I went to Portugal and trained with the Valenca family (The family that run Appassionata) We spent 5 days with the family riding their classically trained stallions (plus horses from the show) It was a total honour to watch them train their horses let alone ride and be taught by them!

Please excuse my face in this photo...This was done by a voice command from the ground, not under my instruction!
