Hi guys, has anyone been on or know of any good horse riding abroad? My honeymoon is in august and i really want to go somewhere where i can ride every day but my fiance is non horsey and into water sports so i'm trying to find a destination that has both these activities and doesn't have to take up our whole days... We were looking at barbados but now i'm starting to focus on majorca as i've heard bad things about the horse care in barbados and it seems to be trekking for more novice people..Any suggestions of good horsey places for experienced riders? I'm open to other destinations...

we holidayed in Jamaica in January hubby did scuba diving(he is a qualified rescue diver) and there was a lot of riding the two places I saw had horses in good condition and seemed well looked after good beach riding. There was a lovely polo centre which also did riding super place .
The hotel had its own scuba centre and also did water sports .

I would look at 'in the saddle' too. Some of the USA/Canadian ranch holidays have good programmes for non riders too. Me and OH went on a ranch for a week ( he rode then ) which was more my thing, then went on a week of stuff that he chose but I enjoyed too ( wildlife watching in very rural BC ).

I would suggest USA as well, OH can go and do white water rafting and stuff and you can round up cows!

Obviously it's your honeymoon and personal choice but would it not be nice to go somewhere you can do things together and make it different to being at home where you go riding and your OH does his thing?
We went to Jamaica (Negril area) for our honeymoon last year it was fabulous- and there was lots of opportunities to ride or do diving/sea activities (we didn't do either except a boat trip but spoke to people who had and they enjoyed)

Dizzydancer: yes you're totally right about that, i dont know why i started to freak out about being away from horses for 2 weeks.. I think i'm not going to limit myself in my honeymoon search any more, but it would still be nice to be some where with the opportunity to go on a short hack or something when he's doing his water sports... Thanks for the jamaica negril suggestion :)

Was just about to say that her husband to be is clearly a keeper if he's ok with her riding everyday of her honeymoon! I would never even dare suggest the idea!

We stayed in Runnaway bay also visited Negril .The climb up Dunns falls is spectacular you actually climb in the waterfall .
Theres lots of other things to do in Jamaica and you could beach ride everyday .Lots of hotels have watersports centres attatched to them .Itslike a luxury holiday where you can ride and do watersports as well rather than a dedicated riding holiday.
We loved it so much we are going back January 2016 staying in a different area just to make a change.

A ranch holiday! Most offer excellent riding programmes and plenty of optional 'non-horsey' activities!

Might even get the OH into riding...The one we went on, even husbands who had never sat on a horse before they arrived were cantering along with the others after a week!

We rode on our honeymoon at Yosemite National Park, and we considered riding at the Grand Canyon too. It was a small part of our honeymoon really but important as we met through horses.

I have been on holidays with in the saddle and I really couldn't recommend them highly enough, the standards were excellent as were the staff and we were well looked after. The trip i did with my sister was to Andalucia and would have been perfect for a couple where one was horsey and the other liked water sports as it was a good area for wind surfing and kite surfing too. The riding tended not to be very full days either so there would have been couple time too.

Iceland! It's (in my opinion) the most beautiful please on earth!! Riding wise it's really is second to none, and if your after something rally different and memorable it's fantastic!
