Hi all,

I am going on holiday to France this Friday and had planned to go riding whilst there. Unfortunately the centre I planned to ride at has a new instructor and new horses moving in and will not be up and running for a few days so I am unable to ride there.

Thought it may be worth asking on here if anyone knows of any riding centres in the Allier area. Not the end of the world if I cannot ride whilst there but worth a try!

Thanks in advance

I don't know where Allier is, which department?

Please be aware that there is a refinery strike on in France at the moment, No petrol on the Paris-Bordeaux motorway between Le Mans-Angers, since Sunday. My partner has just managed to get some diesel for our Discovery, we are competing at Le Mans at the weekend and were down to 150kms in the tank.

If you are driving make sure you fill up before leaving the UK.

It's the Auvergne region in central France :). Thank you, we are aware of the fuel strike and plan to fill up before boarding the ferry in the UK.

We do have a lot of driving to do though and will be heading from Le Havre, south to Caen to pick up my brother who is having to get a different ferry, then to the northern suburbs of Paris to visit friends before driving south. Is there any sign of the strike ending? A little worried that we won't have enough fuel to get back to the ferry at the end of the holiday :(.

The government has announced it is releasing fuel reserves each day, my O/H was able to buy 30 litres at one garage this morning, they had just had a delivery and then went to another garage to buy premium diesel so we are OK for the weekend. (Important for us as we are one clear round away from French National Championships). Be prepared for the fact you may be limited to 30 litres.

I have no contacts in the area you are travelling too, but it is a tourist area so without doubt there will be equestrian centres. Contact now or on arrival, the local Tourist office. Enjoy yourself it is a beautiful part of France.

Ok, fingers crossed we should be fine. That's great; I hope everything goes well for you!! :)
