Horse Road Signs

Just a question about road signs.

There is a sign on a shortcut we sometimes take when out on a hack to the hills near the livery yard. It is a red circle with a horse and rider inside it. I have had a look on the government website and I can't see that sign anywhere. Normally a red circle means that something is prohibited (I think) but just wanted to double check with you all.

Not sure if this is an official sign or if the grumpy old man who lives in the house on the corner got it made just to prevent horses going past!!

I have no idea! Isn't that awful when i drive a car and passed the theory test where you needed to know things like this! i do think the red circles are about stuff that's not allowed though.

The sign you describe is in the Traffic Signs Regulations and it is a sign that indicates horses ridden or accompanied are prohibited.

The Highways department of your local council will be able to tell you if they have put it up or not.

I've been driving for 4 years and I'm also a lawyer and didn't have a clue. How embarrassing haha!
